Free Shuttle Bus connection
between Springfield Union Station and the Big E

This year the shuttle bus will also connect with Amtrak’s Valley Flyer and Vermonter service on the weekends of the fair!

At The Big E
Passengers should proceed to the Transportation Center, which is located behind the Avenue of the States buildings.



Please note that the King Ward motor coaches that are being used for this service are wheelchair accessible.


Still on the fence about taking the train? Consider these points —

  • Why not let someone else do the driving this year?
  • The Big E shuttle buses access the fair grounds via a special “secret” entrance that is not open to the public, which bypasses all of the traffic on Memorial Avenue.
  • Hartford Line trains are never delayed in Big E traffic! (see the map of last year’s Saturday traffic below)

Train information

From the south…

Take a Hartford Line train from New Haven, Wallingford, Meriden, Berlin, Hartford, Windsor, or Windsor Locks to Springfield.

Easy connections between the Hartford Line and Metro-North’s New Haven Line are available at New Haven Union Station.

You can take Amtrak’s new Valley Flyer service to the fair on weekends using this schedule

Here’s the timing for the weekend Valley Flyer connection:

10.23 am | Arrival in Springfield on the Valley Flyer (train 461)
10.35 am | Departure from Union Station to the Big E (Bus Berth 24)

6:00 pm | Departure from the Big E (from the Transportation Center)
6:45 pm | Departure from Springfield on the Valley Flyer (train 488)

PVTA Bus Service to/from The Big E

You can also get to The Big E on weekdays and on the weekend by taking the PVTA R14 Bus, which operates between Springfield Union Station and the Exposition stop on Memorial Drive.

When you arrive in Springfield

Proceed down the stairs to the concourse level.

Turn Left and follow the passageway to the main waiting room and bus terminal.

A PVTA bus ticket may be purchased in the PVTA Waiting Area or on the bus, with exact change.

The one-way adult fare is $1.50 or $0.75 if you are over 60 years of age.

The R14 bus departs from Berth 14 at Springfield Union Station.





You can take a Taxi or a Rideshare service

The taxi stand at the station is located outside the Lyman Street entrance to the station.
